TO THE EDITOR OF THE FREEMANBaltimore, Christmas Day, 1850 SirWhile many of our gentry in this unfortunate country study little else than depopulation or extorting rackrents, I am proud to say that in this village thereis a noble exception to the above class in the persons of Captain Edw. CROKER and his aimable lady, of Baltimore house who are using every exertion to make all about them happy by giving employment and relieving the poor. Many a family in this neighbourhood will sit down to-day to a good dinner of beef and mutton, plentifully supplied to them by Captain and Mrs. CROKER. I am, Sir, your obedient servant, AN INHABITANT |
