ATTEMPT TO SHOOT DARBY O'GRADY, ESQ., OF LINFIELD, COUNTY LIMERICK

  You may form an idea of the present state of the counrty from the following occurrence.Mr. Darby O'GRADY on the part of Lord Guillamor, had processes to the number of near 200, sent out for rent of his lodrship's property, near Askeaton, of which about 50 were sworn and entered at the Rathkeale sessions. On Mr. O'GRADY's arrival in Rathkeale, on Tuesday, to proceed with the processes, on his coming off the coach at MULACHY's door, a man walked up to him and asked what he intended to do with Lord Guillamor's tenants?" He answered, "to give them the benefit of the law." Then said the other "Take the benefit of this"—at same time snapping a pistol at his breast. Fortunately for Mr. O'GRADY the cap had fallen off. The fellow then walked off through the crowd, telling the people not to look after him, and which they obeyed, and away he marched as quietly as if he had committed no offence.
