Low Reunion
Saturday, 11 October 2014
Second Newsletter
150 years since James & Christina Low arrived to live on the Sunshine Coast! The Lows were the first European family to come to the Sunshine Coast in 1864! Incredible but true. They settled at Yandina in 1868. Now, they have many descendants all over Australia as well as some who have gone overseas.
This is a chance to celebrate all the Lows who arrived in Moreton Bay in the 1850s and 1860s and really find out what their descendants have done since that time.
Improve the Low family web page by letting the web master know of additions or corrections directly.
It will be lovely to see everyone again - time to get out all the old photos and stories. Much new research has been done and so there will be much to display and talk about.
There will be a table of give-aways such as copies of documents, photos or books. Maybe you have something you would like to make available to others. We will try to have a photocopier available on the day.
Either wear your own name tag or we will have one for you. Make sure you write in big letters!

10am | The Red Cross Singers will entertain with some Scottish songs. Thanks to John Low who is the generous sponsor. |
10.45am | Frank Carroll will be our MC for the day. Hopefully family members will come forward and speak about their families, tell stories about where they grew up or speak about the life of family members. Some interesting stories should evolve out of this such as the story of the Clark girls who climbed the two Glasshouse Mountains. There is also the time that Dave and Billy Low vied for selection for the Country Party in 1946. How did Low’s Lookout get its name? Or the David Low Way? Who remembers Uncle Alick and his stories? The aboriginal breast plate? |
12.30pm – 1.15pm | Lunch time – good food and time for chatting. |
1.15 pm | Official Photo Session – a photographer will take photos of us all. |
1.30 pm | Audienne has written a book about James and Christina and she will talk about it. Copies will be for sale at little cost. |
1.45pm | By this time we should be well in the swing of talking about the different members of the Low family. We will have another cup of tea and keep going till about 3 pm. |
Saturday Night
Some may like a dinner at night say at Coolum Bowls Club. Keith Hall and Ian McFadden have supplied information about this. If you are interested a group booking needs to be made two weeks before, say 27 September so let us know. The cost should be about $15 per head for a choice of meals.
